Doodle: Cyrillic Alphabet Day
Doodle July 27th, 2007 - By HaochiDon’t know how did I miss it, but I think every doodle I come across deserved to be mentioned. On May 24, Google Bulgaria celebrates the Cyrillic Alphabet Day, also known as the Saints Cyril and Methodius Day.
It commemorates the creation of the Slavic Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabets by the Byzantine Greeks brothers Saints Cyril and Methodius. […] The celebration also commemorates the introduction of literacy and the preaching of the gospels in the Slavonic language by the brothers.
That Cyrillic letter substituting the “L” on the doodle is not Pi, I just found out. It’s actually “El“.
Genius.
