How To: Download Private YouTube Videos

YouTube’s Help Center says when you set your YouTube videos private, they “will only be viewable by those select members” you gave permission to. Well, that’s just like Gmail saying “you’ll never need to delete another message” - no guarantee.
I don’t know whether Google’s considering this a feature or not, given that it’s been around for a really long time, but sure it isn’t something the privacy advocates on YouTube would like: you can download any private videos. :)
Now, the impatient you ask, “How can I download a private YouTube video then?” It’s so darn easy, just enter the video ID in the text field below and click on “Get Video”. Voilà! (finding a private video isn’t that easy though)

What are all the ways to find private videos? (To get the ID?)
I’d like to test this by uploading something, but YouTube is undergoing maintenance at the moment (they say) and doesn’t allow me to upload. Wonder if that’s in relation to this post.

I think there are two (or more).
One is that at first the video was public, as in the Googley Blues case ( http://blogoscoped.com/archive/2007-08-17-n10.html ) then later marked as private. (Googley Blues’ YouTube VID: lyOBg3w5vHc)
The second way, uhh, is that you come across a page (say your friend’s blog) and found a link to YouTube (or embedded video) but is only accessible to your friend’s family members.
In both case the video ID is right in front of you and you just need to look that in the HTML source.

It’s very easy to find private videos. Just search Google with the terms, “This is a private video…”

Gman I actually tried a search like that before but it didn’t work well — none of the videos I clicked on where actually set to private via YouTube.

What we really need is a way to see whether a user has private videos or not, you just type the username in and it lists all the private videos the user has by ID or whatever, I’m sure it can be done, but I don’t know how anyone would go about doing that.

Hey, I use to use this page all the time until it broke, But I did find out about a great program called ultraget which the newest version is able to download videos fine & you can do batch downloads just by copy & pasting all of the video url’s.

Bryan, I just downloaded UltraGet, and it doesn’t download private youtube videos. This was the only site that was able to do this. :(

which you can use to access videos by pasting the id in the search box.

NOPE ..it works with private videos….u just have to wait a while..like 5 mins or more, eventually you will see the PRIVATE video

I went to the site (deletedyoutube.com) or whatever, posted above somewhere. I’ve put in the video ID but got a site error. It said it was an internal error.

How do I find out who post a private video such as this one:

When I put it in the address bar, it just takes me to the Youtube main page but has a message saying something like “this is a private video, if this user sent you this video, be sure to accept the invitation” something like that. It should take you to the user’s profile or something like that. Grrrr.
Is there anyway to find out the user who uploaded it?
Also, I’m trying new thing to view private videos. I’ve put in the link into a video link bar (in a Facebook group) hoping that the video will pop up there but no luck, even though it said it was successful. There must a be a way!

I don’t think anybody can see my videos. I just tried that stupid video retriever in this page with my porn vid codes and it just shows “this page cannot be displayed”.
