Missile on Google Maps - Flying Over Utah?
Maps March 3rd, 2007 - By HaochiDeclaring the state of emergency, a cruise missile is flying over Utah! Someone on Digg found this “missile” while “checking out the old ATV trails by his parent’s house in Circleville, Utah”.
It does look like a missile to me when I first look at it, but then I found out that it’s actually an airplane (McDonnell Douglas MD-90) with wings and the tail section painted black.
LOL. We have got a missile flying over our house. :)

Wouldn’t it be safer at home? (under the circumstance that it’s FLYING over the house.)

This is not an MD-80 or MD-90 as their engines are betweem wing
span and rudder. This Google Map image has engines over wings.
Not an MD plane.

it is a SS-24, a MD-90 as 46.5 meters and the “plane” in the picture has something like 22 or 22.5 meters. look in http://www.missilethreat.com/missilesoftheworld/id.143/missile_detail.asp

How are you determing the size of this vehicle? You can’t use Google to measure it because there is no valid data for it’s altitude. With Google, the altitude is based on radar imaging of the same area as the imaging. A plane, or cruise missile would not be measured. So, as you measure it you are measuring it as if it is on the ground not 5000 feet up. Naturally, it would appear to be much larger.
