New Google Docs Launched
Office June 26th, 2007 - By HaochiI don’t understand why Google’s making this sound like such a big deal, it’s just an interface update for Google Docs & Spreadsheets‘ home page. Other than “looking pretty” and “more organizing“, which I do agree, the only new feature in this “major” update is the Google Suggest-like search function for searching documents.
I am not sure whether Google itself is confused or they just want to make us get confused, they changed tags to folders.
Perhaps someone at Google decided the two syllable word Folder sound better than the one syllable word Tag.
UPDATE: Just learned that you can drag & drop documents into folders. This make me feel a little bit better, but still… I WANT GOOGLE PRESENTATION!

Well, I think that it is pretty cool… it may not be Google Presentations, but it is still rather awesome. Drag and drop is enough for me to bow down before The Google… just kidding, but I do really like it.

couldn’t we tag documents before? i can’t seem to find that now.

As I said… They call it “folders” now. So you have to put it in a folder, instead of tagging it. Pretty much the same, a bit more work, though.

They said that they were going to change the interface (not mentioning anything else).
They were just warning people that they will be aware of it, because as they say, many people rely on Gdocs. Just to help those people

Do you want GOOGLE PRESENTATIONS ? Google only gives you a Google Presentations Logo… (http://docs.google.com/images/doclist/icon_2_pres.gif)
Next time maybe…

I like the new design. One thing I miss, however, is the ability to just click on the dropdown in front of the filename to save the file into different formats. Now I have to select the file and then choose “more actions”. Additionally it would be great if they would have added a “export as zip” option if more than one file is selected. Maybe they will add that later.
