YouTube is a Verb
YouTube August 17th, 2007 - By HaochiI wasn’t aware that “YouTube” has became a verb, or at least, according to Google: “How to YouTube“. The International Reading Association says that “the phrase how to is usually followed by a verb”, except when hyphenated, as in how-to.
So, ehh, I have youtubed “Chocolate Rain” a few minutes ago but I don’t really understand why it’s so popular.

Yes. It’s like google.

Not exactly, Google officially denies itself being a verb.

Interesting! I think Google has some pretty good reasons for denying being a verb, such as the danger of their brand becoming a generalised word for searching the web, and the users going to all kinds of search engines wanting to “google” instead of using google’s site. Do you think it’s a good og a bad thing for a brand to become a verb?

Do you Yahoo? : Yahoo is a verb too?

“I youtubed something” sounds more like uploading a video, then watching one, at YouTube (not that it sounds much like either one!). E.g. I heard people say “I flickr’d this” when they uploaded a photo to Flickr.

@Tom
I bet Yahoo! wants to be a verb so bad (they have that on their site, search for it), but too bad the word “Yahoo” is not a trademark of “Yahoo!” (with an exclamation mark)
@Philipp
I think it depends on the context, but yeah, your definition makes more sense. :)
