Black Google Would Save 3000 Megawatts a Year

“Green Computing Evangelist” Mark Ontkush has an interesting post on his blog about turning Google’s page backgrounds into the color of black, which would “save 3,000 megawatts a year”. :)

Consider if each and every web pages designed in black then we can save more than that……

This is inaccurate. CRTs would save power yes, but LCDs would still display light, but it would be covered.

Google Withe Looks better to me , too. But do the example :

” http://www.google.com/black ” , for color black
Or pay to have a white google =xD

So here’s the problem, why would you pay for something you can get for free? (if Google is a paid service and Yahoo/MSN is not)

They have a firefox Search Extension too.. Interesting..
More over, You can rename the main display to anything you like. Cool huh?
