Googlified

The eBay team members are in red shirts, the rest should be Googlers.

Google and eBay had a netball championship in May, in which they were defeated by the eBay team. A few days ago, the Googlers at Sydney challenged eBay for a rematch to “prove [their] supremacy on the netball court.”

The eBay team started the game hard and fast, trying to wear us down with their superior fitness. They took an early advantage of four points while we Googlers were still finding our feet. Further into the quarter though, we made our comeback, gaining a small lead and keeping it for the rest of the game. Finally, victory and a large shiny trophy were ours. A fitting end to 2007!

LastMinute.com held The LastMinute.com Cricket Challenge on August 10th at the Lord’s Cricket Ground (London) on August 10th. Not sure about the result of the games, but it doesn’t really matter: the process is more important than the result. :)

Google earlier this month challenged eBay’s netball team after an email from the eBay netball team with “we are the champions”-type statements landed in their inbox.

Not as prepared and organized as the eBay netball team, Google’s “underdog” team lost the game as anticipated. (Score is 23 to 17) This reminds me “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”

However, that day’s real winner was the Make-A-Wish Foundation which received over $5,000 donation from the two teams.

Google has stopped celebrating Easter since 2002, before that, they had a logo for it in 2000 and celebrated the holidy secretly in 2001. Then people started complaining. For whatever reasons, Google this year created a little game called the “Easter Egg Hunt” and put it on the Google Maps API blog.

Click the “Start New Game” button and start finding Easter eggs near the Googleplex. My best score right now is 16 “Good Eggs”. :)
