Official Google Bot Portrait

The Google Webmaster Central Blog posted the “real” portrait of legendary Googlebot for the first time! Cute, but it looks like a robot zombie (with a fang) to me.

Google Master Plan Jobs Billboard

Image of the Day

google master plan jobs billboard

Google recently put up this jobs billboard in the Fremont neighborhood in Seattle, featuring the famous Google Master Plan (probably a remake though, as the original one has been erased) to find talents in the area. Some interesting things on the billboard are:

  • Transfer of human DNA over fiber optic cable
  • Minimum wage for machines
  • Rocket powered underpant (weird… :-/)

Google Lego Calendar

google lego calendar

We already know that Google has a history Lego obsession. And recently, blogger Keso received this neat Google branded Lego calendar from Google China. Now, yes, it’s kawaii, but would seriously be pain in the neck when you have to remodel it at the beginning of the month - every month. :)

Lego-ized Google Lego Logo

Doodle, Image of the Day

real google lego doodle

Inspired by Google’s logo for celebrating Lego’s 50th birthday, AFOL(Adult Fan Of LEGO) Antonio Manfredonio replicated the logo with real Lego bricks. It looks exactly the same, except that the shirt is not red.

That’s the coolest thing I have seen all day.

Google Cupcake

Google likes to have their logo everywhere, even on cupcakes. (In 2006 though, Google had a cupcake on their logo to celebrate their 8th birthday.)

goooooooooogle

This photo was taken in Google’s Amsterdam office. I forgot what’s the story behind the use of Goooooooooogle on the bottom of result pages (if there’s any), but I think it’s related to googol.

Easter Egg: Once in a Blue Moon

Image of the Day

once in a blue moon

When you search “once in a blue moon” (in lower case), Google Calculator will return the mathematical value of “once in a blue moon” - 1.16699016 x 10-8 hertz (or approximately 2.715 years).

Rarely, once in a very long time […]. This term is something of a misnomer, because an actual blue moon - that is, the appearance of a second full moon in the same calendar month - occurs every 32 months or so. [Houghton Mifflin/Answers.com]
