Google Desktop Linux Version Released
Desktop June 28th, 2007 - By HaochiAnother Google application for Linux users! Google just released the Linux version of Google Desktop. The search interface looks identical to the Quick Search Box, and as the other two version of Google Desktop, the Linux version can be access using the web browser.
Well, the Linux version, according to the Inside Google Desktop Blog, is “developed primarily out of [their] Beijing office, it includes almost all the features from the first Windows version of Google Desktop Search plus the Quick Search Box.”
I am not seeing the “Desktop” link on Google.com as they advertised… Nice to see another Google-app for Linux nonetheless. :)

The desktop link always used to be there, but somehow got forgotten in the new UI of google.com

The desktop link is added by the desktop client when the page is accessed. They had a special tag in the page that was replaced with the link to the desktop search. In the new universal search update this tag is no longer available. Probably because the new bar is using a lot of javascript.
They will probably add a link to GD soon *wishes*.
