Google India Labs
Labs August 15th, 2007 - By HaochiSo I mentioned in the last post that Google was going to have a gift (or two) for their Indian users in a couple of days. Well, if you can’t wait till Christmas to unwrap the gifts, here you go - the Google India Labs.

Right now, there are two new products in the Labs: Indic On-Screen Keyboard iGoogle Gadgets and Google Indic Transliteration.
The Indic On-Screen Keyboard is a iGoogle gadget that allows user to compose search queries in any of the 14 Indian language that the application supports (including Hindi, Tamil, Sanskrit and Bengali) by using the mouse to “select the appropriate letters of the alphabet and create search terms.”
And the Indic Transliteration, umm, lets you transliterate English words and phrases into Hindi phonetically. This tool has been available on Blogger for some months.
They were not kidding, these tools are only good for Indian speakers (and probably a few others). I had no idea what I was doing.
