Google has added a new feature to Google News, “Google News Archive Search“. With this feature, you can search historical news events from the last 200 years. When you search, Google will choose the most relevant articles related to their query. “For example, searching for information about the 1969 moon landing will showcase original news written in 1969, as well as more recent coverage from the last four decades of analysis.” Google’s working with article sources such as TIME.com, The Guardian, and many others to offer free contents, as well as some articles available for a fee or via a subscription from news organizations like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal.

UPDATE: After a couple searches, I think the oldest articles you can find are from 1759, long before the “United States Declaration of Independence“.
