Goooooooooogle

This photo was taken in Google’s Amsterdam office. I forgot what’s the story behind the use of Goooooooooogle on the bottom of result pages (if there’s any), but I think it’s related to googol.

from what i remember each “o” represented a page of results. for example if it said “goooogle” then there were 4 pages of search results. I would love to know if that is true or not.

I think that’s true. Hold your mouse over the different “o”s and you can see that the url changes. “…start=10″, “start=20″.

Not exactly, since there can only be a max of 10 o’s.

From what I can see, each ‘o’ represents a search result page, with 10 being the max number at any moment.

actually it means 10 to the power of 100, thats why there are only 10 o’s. it has to do with the original name that google came from. which was googol. And googol means 10 to the power of 100.
