Leprechaun on Google Maps
Maps March 16th, 2008 - By HaochiGoogle Maps had already replaced the yellow person icon in Google Street View with a leprechain to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day.
In Irish mythology, a leprechaun is a type of male faerie said to inhabit the island of Ireland. [...] They usually take the form of old men who enjoy partaking in mischief. Their trade is that of a cobbler or shoemaker. [Wikipedia]
So do I need to wear green tomorrow (in order to avoid the possibility of getting pinched) even though the holiday has been observed on the 15th?

Not in NZ they haven’t, eg
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en-GB&q=Havana+Bar+loc:32+Wigan+Street+Wellington+New+Zealand&ie=UTF8&ll=-41.296012,174.775071&spn=0.005683,0.010042&z=17
Another example of the WORLD wide web not really being about all the world? I think location and particularly time often mean “USA” … which is about a day behind for us Kiwis ;-)

Guess I should’ve said “Google Streetview” - there’s no GStreetView in NZ, yet.
