gmail 2.0 new contact manager

Philipp Lenssen of Google Blogoscoped broke the news that Google is now rolling out the new version of Gmail - known as Gmail 2.0 - to some users. Users that are invited to test out the new Gmail will be able to see a “Newer Version” link on the top right corner.

The new Gmail features a revamped contact manager (shown above), is something that many Gmail users hoped Google to improve on countless occasions. This screenshot here shows that the new contact manager allows you to enter more information for your contacts, such as multiple emails, phone numbers, addresses and IMs, as well as work-related information (company, title, etc…). It also have the option for you to choose your contacts’ avatars straight from your Picasa Web Albums, skipping the hassle of uploading again.

One other feature that Philip highlighted was the ability to filter out similar messages under “More Actions” in the Inbox.

I logged in and out several times but still can’t see the link. Oh, poor me. :( Hopefully Google will roll out the new version to all users soon. :)

UPDATE: InsideGoogle has something interesting here, so is the Official Google Blog on the Fight Against Spam (got a little nice chart and video too).
