The Not So Popular Picasa Web Albums

Zmarties did a little research to find “How popular is Picasaweb“, in comparision to Google rival Yahoo!’s photo sharing site, Flickr. Needless to say, Flickr is winning by huge margin. Flickr is red in the above chart from Google Trends, Picasa Web Albums is in blue, click here to find the comparison of search volume between PWA and other photo sharing services.

I agree that Yahoo’s Flickr is winning by a large margin now, but one must take into consideration that Flickr has been around a little over 2 years and Pisca Web Albums haven’t even been around for 1 year. Besides that, Pisca Web Albums seems to be doing better in their first 6 months than Flickr did in theirs. It will be interesting to see how popular Pisca Web Albums will be in 2 years compared to Flickr.

That’s true, let’s get back to PWA’s popularity next year. (Guess we will forget by then, lol :D)

Hmmm. I would’ve thought you should be comparing [picasaweb|picasa web|picasa] rather than just [picasaweb|picasa web] since I think most would search for just [picasa] even if they wanted Picasa Web Albums.
And if you do that, it appears to be more popular than Flickr, Webshots and Imageshack in certain places, certainly towards the end of the year.

Since Picasa and Picasaweb (or Picasa Web) are two different things, I didn’t include. Even if I have, Flickr is now a little more popular than Picasa and Picasa Web. :( Picasa Web deserves more publicity.
