What Now?
Google June 29th, 2008 - By Haochi
I haven’t check my Google Reader for over a month, and this is what it looks like. :o
First of all, I apologize to everyone that’s been waiting for my return to update this blog. Well, I am back now, but got some bad news, as some of you have figured a long time ago, is that I will stop updating Googlified.
“OMG, Haochi, why are you doing this?!?!?”
Well, I love this blog and I love doing this very much, albeit I don’t love/like/admire Google anymore - the bigger reason behind this whole thing, plus that life sucks (and wonderful at the same time - which I am learning to appreciate it) that wouldn’t allow me to have 48-hour days. Life gets overwhelmed at times and sacrifices needed to be done so that’s that, there aren’t a lot to be said.
So What Now?
The Internet without Googlified will still be the Internet, there are many great blogs and communities that talks about Google on the Web. I will still participate in the discussions, just not publishing them on this blog, that’s all. I do (shamelessly) admit that there are many great things about this blog that you will miss, but well, c’est la vie I guess.
I am not sure what to do with this blog yet, but one thing I am sure is that I will keep this blog online for another couple of months and wait till then to decide. As for the OVER NINE THOUSAND unread items in Google Reader, I will just “mark as read” them all. :D
Also, I have a personal blog, if you are interested, go ahead and subscribe it. :)
And for those who have never seen a photo of me, see below, I am radiating love and peace.

Thanks a bunch for the posts over the years. This is the first blog that I really read every day when I was first crazy about Google.
But, like you, I have also grown out of Google. Once the company went public it seems as if Google went from one that created products and found ways to monetize it later to a company that only created products just for the sake of profit. They seemingly have abandoned major development of many of their great programs like Picasa Web Albums, Google Talk, etc.
Now I am far more interested into Linux (Ubuntu) and the Open Source (Elisa Media Center, Banshee Music player, etc) world. I doubt I will loose interest in that for a long time :D
Nevertheless, I wish you good fortune for the future. Take care.

I’ll probably do the same at some point and I predict that at least two other unofficial Google blogs will stop existing this year. Good luck with your next projects and thanks for a lighthearted blog that brightened my Google tab from iGoogle.

Haochi,
I am very happy to hear that you have recovered from an accident suffered.
On the other hand, I am very sad to know that you are closing the Googlified, because I acostumei to read your posts daily. Either way, I wish all the luck in the world for you in your new works.
Abraços,

Thanks, Haochi, for all the interesting info in the past & g’luck w/all. You can probably sell the site for some coin, but if you decide to give it to a good home I would suggest offering it to John Mueller (Google software engineer). He’s probably one of the most helpful employees on Google Webmaster Help Group (http://groups.google.com/groups/profile?enc_user=lM-UKDAAAAC0ZCEBAysSlShC_gPAdXUZmjqRmRterNa8Oz21qsjVgj_wknTYgk2leeKLmFFGg7s) 0- where I spend most of my time helping & reading - and it seems like he’s taken over some other stuff before (http://johnmu.com/about-me/). Just a thought - & thanx again.

You hate Google? Why?
Well…I just want to say good luck to your life. If that’s your choice, then so be it.
But please don’t shut this site down. When time comes that you want to go back to blogging, at least you’ll still have a home to return to.
