google public service search

Last month, Google announced that they are shutting down Google Answers; today, I learned that Google is no longer giving out support for its SOAP API. Who’s going to be next?

My vote goes to Google Public Search Service. Not that I don’t like it, but is because it seems to me that Google hasn’t done anything to fix an security exploit that was reported for more than three months. On the 15th of September, the Webmaster Central said,

We have a temporary fix in place currently that prevents exploitation of this problem and will have a permanent solution in place shortly.

If you are a Public Service Search user and are having trouble logging in right now, please sit tight. As soon as the permanent solution is in place the service will be back on its feet again.

Shortly? It’s been three months! I think Google is giving up on this service: closed registration, log in disabled, no support, etc. Ka-ching, Google will then offer you Custom Search Engine or AdSense for Search, where you and Google can both make money.(OMG, I am evil.)

note: this is no way real, just my guess.
