YouTube to Have Ads in Videos
TV, YouTube April 26th, 2007 - By HaochiAccording to Red Herring, YouTube will be inserting TV-like ads within the videos of “more than 1,000 premium content creators”, as soon as this summer. They are currently experimenting with the “precise length, form, and placement of those ads”, YouTube’s head of advertising Suzie Reider said.
It seems like that YouTube is trying to rival with the billion dollars TV market, but not to “recreate the TV model”.
I don’t think the ads would bother me, for two reasons:
- Google will only place the ads on “premium content creators”, so it would be really rare that I will see any of them
- If the clip is long enough for Google to put the ads, I can rest my eyes during the commercial time! :)
Looks like this is how YouTube will be sharing revenue with their ‘premium content creators’.
On a related note, YouTube got a Film Editor, Sara, and the YouTube Blog’s got a new design, with comments enabled for YouTube users.
